Book Reviews

Throughout the year, The Independent Scholar publishes book reviews of NCIS member’s books, and books of interest to independent scholars. If you would like to review books, please contact the book review editor at reviews@ncis.org. Include information about your specialization(s), experience in reviewing, and any other pertinent details.

TIS reviews books that are

Scholarly in nature (non-fiction)
Authored by NCIS members or NCIS partner group members
Of particular interest to independent scholars

NCIS Members who are interested in writing reviews, or who have books to propose for review, should contact the book review editor at reviews@ncis.org. Books may be in any discipline with any focus.

Reviews are published online after editorial approval, and are subsequently published in the next issue of The Independent Scholar.

Submitting a Book Review

Completed reviews are submitted using the Open Access Journal Submission (OJS) portal. Please include the following information: title, author, publication details, ISBN, prices, number of pages, an image of the book cover, and, at the end of the review, a brief biographical note about the reviewer.
