Special Research Support Grants
Many independent scholars conduct research from their home offices and may also be teaching online. NCIS offers Special Research Support Grants of up to $150 to help members offset these costs, including hardware and any needed ergonomic aids. These grants are open to all membership levels.
Special Research Support Grants of up to $150 each may be used to cover expenses such as
- Research-related books and journal subscriptions, including JSTOR through NCIS
- Registration fees for virtual conferences/seminars
- Subscriptions to field-specific associations
- Technical support, hardware, software
- Ergonomic aids such as chairs and molded keyboards
- Online training
Eligibility
- You must have been an NCIS member AT FULL OR ASSOCIATE LEVEL in good standing for the past 12 months at the deadline.
- You may claim for intended purchases of research-related materials (receipts will be required before the grant is disbursed).
- You may claim for such purchases already made within six months preceding the relevant deadline, providing receipts for the purchases are provided and approved.

Disbursement of Grants
Grants will only be disbursed through PayPal, a check payable to a U.S. checking account, or Zelle.

NCIS encourages each grant recipient to check with their tax advisor regarding any potential tax liability as per the laws of the recipient’s country and place of domicile.
