I have been working as a photographer and graphic designer for 25 plus years. Mindful of the adage that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” I have embarked on my third act, inspired by my late father, Emory G. Evans, the former Chairman of the History Department at the University of Maryland. After he died, The Carl Schurz Park Conservancy, who I had been doing photography and graphics for, asked me to write a history of Carl Schurz Park. The result is The Little Park on the River, which details the history of this amazing little park, in Manhattan’s Yorkville neighborhood. Since then I have been writing a history of Tammany Hall, which explores the impact of this political organization on the nation.
